Abstract

Taking Situ Town in Jincheng City, Shanxi Province, China as a case study, this paper analyzes the sustainable development of rural tourism from the four dimensions of economy, society, culture, and ecology, based on sustainable development theory and stakeholder theory. The study finds that Situ Town has formed a rural tourism development model centered on “Datiehua” through spatial transformation, cultural resource development, and industrial integration. It has achieved positive results in enhancing tourism attractiveness, promoting employment, revitalizing intangible cultural heritage, and improving the ecological environment. However, several problems remain in its development, including the risk of cultural performativization, an incomplete community benefit-sharing mechanism, insufficient extension of the industrial chain, and increasing ecological carrying pressure. In the future, cultural revitalization, community co-construction, industrial integration, and ecological governance should be further promoted to achieve high-quality and sustainable development of rural tourism.
